Christian Peña, LMHC‑A

Christian Peña is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHC‑A) who offers a collaborative, conversational, and highly individualized approach to therapy.  He holds a  Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ball State University. In addition he is a Certified Mindfulness‑Informed Practitioner.  

Christian integrates a variety of evidence‑based and insight‑oriented approaches, including:

Christian has specific experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and neurocognitive disorders. He approaches this work with patience, clarity, and respect for each person’s abilities, autonomy, and goals. He believes meaningful change grows not only from evidence‑based practice, but also from feeling genuinely seen and understood. He is committed to fostering an affirming, inclusive space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported in their growth. He works with clients to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, assisting them to build insight, resilience, and movement toward their full potential.

With three years of clinical experience, Christian has supported preteens, teens, adults, and older adults facing a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges, including  anxiety, depression, trauma, self‑esteem, identity‑related issues. Before becoming a counselor, Christian spent many years as a client himself, navigating experiences of worry, inadequacy, loss of meaning, and emotional pain. These lived experiences strongly inform his work and allow him to bring empathy, authenticity, and deep understanding into the therapeutic relationship.
